FAQ

What is NAVARET?

NAVARET is a curated visual archive and private collection dedicated to photography, digital art, video and historical visual material. Each work is individually selected or created with attention to its artistic, historical, cultural or documentary value.

What am I purchasing?

You are purchasing a license to use a digital asset, not ownership of the original work or its copyright.

The rights you receive depend on the license selected and any specific restrictions associated with the asset.

What is the difference between Personal and Commercial licenses?

A Personal License is intended for private, personal and non-commercial use.

A Commercial License allows the asset to be used for professional or commercial projects, subject to the conditions and restrictions applicable to that asset.

For complete details, please see our Licensing page.

What do I receive after purchasing?

NAVARET licenses digital files. The file provided depends on the license and asset selected.

Where different file versions or resolutions are available, these are indicated as part of the product or license information.

Are NAVARET images watermarked?

Watermarks or other protective elements may appear on images displayed on the website for preview and protection purposes.

Licensed downloadable files are supplied without the NAVARET display watermark.

Can I resell or redistribute a licensed file?

No. A license allows you to use the content within the rights granted by that license.

The original digital asset may not be resold, redistributed, sublicensed or offered as a standalone downloadable file unless expressly authorized.

What does “Editorial Use Only” mean?

Some historical, documentary, celebrity, event or other identifiable content may be designated Editorial Use Only.

This generally means that the content is intended for uses connected with news, information, education, culture or matters of public interest and should not be assumed to be cleared for advertising, endorsement or promotional use.Always check the restrictions associated with the individual asset.

Are all historical images owned by NAVARET?

No. NAVARET's collections may include original works as well as selected historical material from public-domain or other authorized sources.

Copyright and rights status can therefore vary between individual assets. Where relevant, source or rights information is provided with the asset.

Can I request additional rights or a different license?

Yes. If the available licenses do not cover your intended use, you can contact NAVARET to discuss additional licensing requirements.

Approval and conditions depend on the individual asset and the rights available.

I am not sure which license I need. What should I do?

Contact NAVARET before purchasing or using the asset and briefly describe your intended use. We can help identify the appropriate available license or determine whether additional rights are required.
